Dixie Chooks Poultry And More

My poultry journey started in 2020 when I was 12 years old. We already had a few layer hens that were in a chicken tractor that would free range in the day. They were just your old isa browns and a couple of Australorps. I then asked my parents one day if I could get a rooster and an incubator. They got me a small incubator for my birthday and we found a cross bred rooster to start with, and that's where it all began. We then found this lovely lady who helped me start out with my first purebred chickens. I brought 5 day old chicks which were light Sussex, coronation Sussex and Vorwerk. Well the Sussex stuck around. My dad then built me chicken coops with sections for my different breeds. I slowly built up from a few chickens to many. Also trialing different poultry such as cross bred ducks, and geese which were good but they were quite messy and not for me, so I moved them on. We now currently have and breed coronation/light Sussex, Speckled Sussex, Silkies, Rhode Island Reds and Cream Legbars. We are also going to start breeding Call ducks in 2026, a new journey ahead. This site is information that I have learnt over the years that I want to share with others to help them out. Everyones information is different and you may have different ways/opinions of doing things that work for you this is how I do things that work for me.
